Fighters Win Tight Eastern League Race
Monday, September 23rd, 2019
Winning the Eastern League is a "major milestone" for the Hokkaido Nippon Ham (Ni-Gun) Fighters, but according to their first baseman, it's only a small part of the master plan.
"Win the division, get to the Round 1, win the Round 1," said Tommy Stokes. "That's what we've talked about doing since day one here. We're 1 for 1 so far, so that's a good start."
It is the 1st time in franchise history that Hokkaido Nippon Ham (Ni-Gun) has won the Eastern League. If the team does in fact go "3 for 3" in accomplishing the team goals, it would be the 1st Round 1 in team history.
