Western League Picks Top Player
Monday, September 23rd, 2019
The 35-year-old Hiroshima Toyo (Ni-Gun) Carp left fielder might not have the spring he had in his step years ago, but the "old man" can still play the game. Matt Joyce has been a reliable ballplayer, one who has worked hard to earn everything he's achieved and today he sits on top of the heap as he was named the Western League Player of the Week.
He went 9-for-23 to rack up a .391 average with 2 home runs and 7 RBI this past week. Joyce also scored 3 runs.
Thus far in 2019 Joyce is hitting .278 with 17 home runs, 62 RBIs, 49 runs scored and has compiled a .455 OBP.
