Joyce Selected Player of the Week
Monday, September 2nd, 2019
Few players his age are still in the league, but Matt Joyce of the Hiroshima Toyo (Ni-Gun) Carp clearly loves the game and clearly he can still get the job done. Last week the 35-year-old left fielder hit the ball with the consistency of someone ten years younger, which made Joyce a popular and well-deserved selection as Western League Player of the Week.
He paced the Carp attack by putting up a .391 batting average, 9 hits in 23 at-bats, 11 RBIs and 2 home runs. Joyce also scored 4 runs.
Hitting .268 to date, Joyce has 14 home runs and 51 RBIs. He has played in 80 games.
