Saturday, May 18th, 2019
6 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book and the latest honoree is Lourdes Gourriel Jr. of the Yokohama (Ni-Gun) Bay Stars. He tore up the Seibu (Ni-Gun) Lions to the tune of 6 hits in 6 at-bats in the Yokohama (Ni-Gun) 15-8 win today at Lions Baseball ground 2. "Gourriel Jr. was a tough out today," the Seibu (Ni-Gun) manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure." Lourdes Gourriel Jr. hit an RBI double in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 9th.
In the current season, Gourriel Jr. has put up a .419 batting average with 65 hits, 4 home runs, 28 RBI and scored 38 runs.
