Yomiuri's Sawamura Shuts Out Tigers Tuesday, September 24th, 2019 Yomiuri hurler Hirokazu Sawamura was at his best as he whitewashed the Hanshin Tigers 4-0 today. "He just kept the ball down, did a good job, made his pitches," said the Hanshin manager. "We didn't do a good job making adjustments, so we helped him out a little bit." Sawamura fired a 3-hitter and totaled 9 strikeouts and 3 walks in the shutout performance. This season Sawamura has a 6-5 mark in 16 starts with a 3.50 ERA. He has given up 104 hits in 113 innings, struck out 113 and issued 35 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .244 batting average against him. |
