Ueda Befuddles Hokkaido Nippon-Ham
Friday, August 23rd, 2019
"He was too darn good for us today," grumbled the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham manager after his club suffered a 2-0 shutout at the hands of Arinori Ueda of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks. He held the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters scoreless in a 6-hit whitewash.
Ueda was in a zone of his own most of the game and finished with 8 strikeouts and no walks in a strong outing.
In a postgame quote his own skipper added, "He pitched his butt off, had good velocity, good movement and had those guys off balance. Arinori did a whale of a pitching job."
Ueda has fashioned a 14-5 mark for the season, 2.74 ERA and thrown 183.2 innings in 25 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .220 against him.
