Golden Eagles Okajima Injured Saturday, August 17th, 2019 The Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles were dealt a severe blow when Takero Okajima was hurt stealing a base recently in a game against the Orix Buffaloes. After the game, the team trainer reported Okajima might have to spend a lengthy time on the disabled list. Today doctors confirmed it, ruling the 26-year-old catcher out for the rest of the season with a strained posterior cruciate ligament. They indicated it would take Okajima at least 8 weeks to heal. Okajima is hitting .284 this year with 10 home runs, 39 RBIs and 56 runs scored. He has 115 hits in 405 at-bats, 51 walks and a .365 on-base percentage. Okajima has played in 104 games. |
