Rodriguez Fires No-Hitter Against Pittsburgh Wednesday, August 20th, 2025 Fans at Black Cats Ballpark got a rare gift today as Eduardo Rodriguez of the Black Cats tossed a no-hitter against the Pittsburgh Alleghenys. Although Rodriguez did not appear to have his best stuff in the early innings, he turned masterful as the game went on, ultimately striking out 9 and walking 3 in a 3-0 Philadelphia victory. "We had our chances in the first few innings when he was hittable, and we couldn't capitalize on them," Pittsburgh manager Patrick Healy said later. "In the last four or five innings, he totally shut us down." In all, Rodriguez faced only 31 batters. While getting into his groove, he was helped by several defensive gems. "I don't remember a better-pitched game," Black Cats manager said. "And how about our defense today?"
