Yamada Swats Record-Breaking Home Run

Tetsuto Yamada has had a spectacular year this season. Today at Meiji Jingu Stadium the Tokyo Yakult great cracked his 44th roundtripper of the season and broke the league record held by the legendary Shinnosuke Abe. The fans went wild and gave him repeated curtain calls for his historic blast. Speaking with reporters at the postgame press conference Yamada told them how he was going to celebrate his new record. "I'll celebrate a little with my family tonight, but not too much. Gotta to go back to work tomorrow, you know."
Tetsuto Yamada singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Tomoyuki Sugano in the 3rd, flied out in the 6th and homered off Kyosuke Takagi in the 7th.
A look at his current stats shows Yamada with a .314 average, 44 home runs, 106 RBIs and 110 runs scored. He has played in 141 games.
