Elefantes Prevail, as Round 2 Goes to the Wire Saturday, March 7th, 2020 The Cienfuegos Elefantes are heading to the Round 3, having narrowly defeated the Villa Clara Naranjas. Cienfuegos edged the series 4-3, with a win at Cinco de Septiembre Stadium in the clinching game by a 3-2 margin. Osmel Aguila turned in a strong offensive performance for the Elefantes and got series MVP for his efforts. "I'll never turn down another trophy for my mantle, another accomplishment to remember once my career is over," he said. "What I would really remember, though, is a Round 3 win." It remains to be seen how the playoffs will conclude, but if Aguila continues to swing a hot bat, his team willno doubt have a chance. For the series, he hit .400 with a .424 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, 3 RBI and scored 7 runs. The Cienfuegos Elefantes will play against the Matanzas Cocodrilos in the next round. Matanzas won their series against the Pinar del Rio Vegueros 4 games to 1. The Round 3 schedule will be announced after the Round 2 finishes. |
