Cienfuegos Moves on to Round 2 Tuesday, February 25th, 2020 Cesar Garcia paused momentarily when asked what it means to him to be named MVP of the Round 1. "It means we're one step closer to winning the Round 3, as they normally don't give this to players on the losing team," he said with a smile, only moments after his Cienfuegos Elefantes had knocked out the Granma Potros to advance to the Round 2. "I do feel fortunate to win the award though, I had a lot of fun out there." Cienfuegos won the final game by a 4-1 count at Mártires de Barbados Stadium and clinched the series 3-1. Garcia had a 0.00 ERA over 8 innings pitched, with 12 strikeouts and a 1-0 record. The Cienfuegos Elefantes don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Villa Clara Naranjas - Holguin Cachorros series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes. |
