Murton Socks it to Dragons, Cracks 5 Hits Friday, May 20th, 2016 Who needs batting practice? Matt Murton of Hanshin (Ni-Gun) apparently doesn't as he peppered Chunichi (Ni-Gun) with a 5-hit outburst in today's game. He got the hits, but lost the game. The Dragons pulled out a 18-14 win. He told the press after the game, "And I didn't even take BP today. I think I have been taking too many swings before game and decided to take a day off. This was really something... a 5 for 6 day... will my name be in the record books now?" One of his teammates hollered out, "No, only if your team wins the game!" Matt Murton grounded out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 8th. Murton has a .313 average and a .399 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 40 hits, 4 home runs and driven in 20 runs. |
