Alleghenys Lose to Boomers, 5-1
|
The New Vegas Boomers picked up a win at Moles Stadium, knocking off the Pittsburgh Alleghenys, 5-1. Starting pitcher Kendall Graveman played a key role in the triumph. Graveman went 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 10-5. New Vegas now sits at 62-62, while Pittsburgh falls to 71-53.
Jose Osuna had a big 2-run single for the Boomers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With New Vegas leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a curveball from Noah Syndergaard and stroked the single to center. It was his 143rd hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Boomers ahead, 4-0.
"Kendall is tough when he's hitting his spots," said New Vegas manager James Kontra.
