Batterologists Win at Batavia, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Berkeley Batterologists and the Batavia Muckdogs, Tyson Ross was the difference-maker. The Berkeley right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-1 win. Ross went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 0, and struck out 3. His record improves to 4-10. Dan Reynolds got the save, his 7th in 7 chances.
The Batterologists got a big at-bat from second baseman Gleyber Torres. For the game, Torres was 1-4. In the top of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 107th hit of the season gave Berkeley a 1-0 lead.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Torres, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
Batavia has now lost 4 consecutive games.
