Batterologists Lose to Wizards, 2-1
|
The Spellborough Wizards did just enough to sneak past the Berkeley Batterologists, 2-1, at Mage Tower Field. Spellborough pitcher Brady Singer earned player of the game honors. Singer, now 6-7, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 1 earned run. Tyler Kolek earned his 15th save in 18 chances.
Had Freddie Freeman not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Freeman hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Wizards.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Spellborough manager Lester Norton.
With the win, Spellborough has a record of 70-91. Berkeley falls to 69-92.
