Hornets Win at Neptune, 2-1
|
Lynchburg and Neptune played a hard-fought contest at The Igloo.
The Lynchburg Hornets got a stellar performance from pitcher Aaron Blair, who handcuffed the Neptune offense en route to a 2-1 win at The Igloo. In 8 innings, Blair surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. Josh Staumont notched his 39th save in 45 chances.
Justin Bellinger, who is tied for 9th in the EL in bases on balls with 78, aided the Lynchburg cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the eighth. For the game, the first baseman drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Blair.
The Hornets bumped their record to 85-73 with this latest triumph.
