Fighting Penguins Win Thriller, 3-2
|
The Fighting Penguins grabbed a win, 3-2, at The Igloo, overcoming a fine effort from Lynchburg pitcher Zach Petrick. Petrick went 6.1 innings and allowed no earned runs. The first-place Fighting Penguins have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
The Fighting Penguins got a big at-bat from left fielder Victor Roache. For the game, Roache went 3-5 with a triple and a double. In the bottom of the 11th, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 94th hit of the season gave Neptune a 3-2 lead.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Lynchburg manager Greg Stern said following the tough loss.
