Yamada Hits 2 home runs in Alleghenys Win
|
Pittsburgh played host to Spellborough at the friendly confines of PNC Park.
The Pittsburgh Alleghenys topped the Spellborough Wizards by the score of 6-2, with the largest share of the credit going to second baseman Tetsuto Yamada. Yamada went 2 for 2 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Alleghenys. The first-place Alleghenys, at 91-67, now lead their division by 6½ games.
Yamada contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Pittsburgh in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Yamada took a fastball from Travis Lakins and stroked the home run to left. His 15th home run of the season allowed the Alleghenys to leap in front, 2-1.
Yamada attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
