Hornets Continue Hot Streak with Extra-Inning Win
The Lynchburg Hornets faced a tough opponent in Spellborough pitcher Drew Smyly, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Hornets Nest by a final score of 4-3. Smyly went 7.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Lynchburg reliever Josh Staumont picked up the win, upping his record to 6-5. Kevin Quackenbush shouldered the loss. Lynchburg now has a 3-game win streak.

The Hornets got a big at-bat from designated hitter Eric Morton. For the game, Morton went 2-5 with a double. In the bottom of the tenth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 104th hit of the season gave Lynchburg a 4-3 lead.

"We found a way to get it done," Morton said.
