Hornets Win at Batavia, 7-2
|
Lynchburg and Batavia met at Wrigley Field in front of a lively crowd.
Justin Bellinger made an impact in the 7-2 Lynchburg win over Batavia. Bellinger was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Lynchburg reliever Justus Sheffield picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Stephen Keller absorbed the loss. John Simms, credited with the save, is now 2 for 3 in save opportunities.
The Hornets got a big at-bat from left fielder Dalton Kelly. For the game, Kelly was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 17th home run of the season gave Lynchburg a 2-0 lead.
"We played hard and won," said Bellinger. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
The Hornets bumped their record to 52-49 with this latest triumph.
