Hornets Win in Extras
|
The Lynchburg Hornets topped the Berkeley Batterologists, 12-11, with designated hitter Eric Morton playing a big role. Morton was 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 6 for the Hornets in the win. The win was credited to Josh Staumont in relief. His record improves to 5-5. Roman Mendez took the loss. The Hornets bumped their record to 51-48 with this latest triumph.
Morton had the big at-bat for Lynchburg. With one out in the bottom of the tenth inning, he hit a sacrifice fly, giving Lynchburg the 12-11 win.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Lynchburg skipper Greg Stern.
