Myers Helps Alleghenys Run Win Streak to 3
|
Wil Myers helped his team muscle past the Lynchburg Hornets, 6-2. In the game, the Pittsburgh designated hitter went 3-3 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Jackson Kowar got the win, improving to 6-5. He held the Hornets to 1 earned run on 3 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 8 and walking 3. The first-place Alleghenys, at 54-42, now lead their division by 5 games.
Myers had a key at-bat for Pittsburgh early in the game. With runners on 1st and 3rd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 21st home run of the season and gave Pittsburgh an early 3-0 lead.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Myers said.
