Wizards Lose to Black Cats, 3-1
|
Trevor Williams never let the Wizards get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Black Cats to a 3-1 win. Williams picked up the win for Philadelphia, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 5-14. Even with the win, the Black Cats have a dismal 50-95 record.
The Black Cats got a big at-bat from right fielder Alex Gordon. For the game, Gordon was 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Philadelphia a 2-0 lead.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Gordon told reporters after the game.
