Big Day by Calhoun Ignites Batterologists Win
|
The Berkeley Batterologists knocked off the Columbus Legion, 6-1, at Dodger Stadium. Willie Calhoun, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Berkeley won. The shortstop went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. The winner was Easton McGee, who threw 109 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 5 hits. The Batterologists bumped their record to 50-42 with this latest triumph.
Calhoun had a key at-bat for Berkeley early in the game. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 2-run double. It was his 7th double of the season and gave Berkeley an early 2-0 lead.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Berkeley manager Randy Morgenstein.
