Wizards Get Close Win Over Illuminati
|
The exploits of catcher Max Stassi, who is on pace for 109 RBI this season, helped the Spellborough Wizards defeat the Atlantic City Illuminati, 4-2. Stassi went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Phil Green earned his 22nd save in 25 chances. The Wizards bumped their record to 48-40 with this latest triumph.
Stassi had a game-changing single in the top of the eighth. On a 1-0 curveball from Turner Larkins, he banged a run-scoring single to right, giving the Wizards a 3-2 lead. It was the 82nd hit of the year for Stassi.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Stassi said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
