Red Sox Get Road Win, 6-3
|
With designated hitter Lou Gehrig leading the charge, the Pawtucket Red Sox defeated the New Vegas Boomers, 6-3, at Moles Stadium. Gehrig, who is tied for 3rd in the EL with a .407 on-base percentage, was 3-3 with a home run and a triple. The winner was Danny Duffy, who threw 103 pitches over 7.1 innings. The left-hander was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits. Ken Giles was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 19 of 23 save opportunities.
The Red Sox got a big at-bat from shortstop Raul Mondesi. For the game, Mondesi went 1 for 4, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 71st hit of the season gave Pawtucket a 5-3 lead.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Gehrig said.
Pawtucket improves to 46-31 with the win. They lead their division by 2½ games.
