Lynchburg got a first-rate effort from pitcher Sandy Koufax, who frustrated Philadelphia hitters en route to a 3-1 Hornets triumph at Hornets Nest. Lynchburg reliever Andrew McKirahan picked up the win, upping his record to 5-0. Gerrit Cole took the loss. Dan Stevens notched his 26th save in 30 chances.

Had Johnny Randolph not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Randolph hit a 2-run triple. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Hornets.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Koufax said after the game.

Lynchburg improves to 43-32 with the win. They lead their division by 2 games.
