Late Rally by Hornets Secures Win
|
Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Dan McGill, the Lynchburg Hornets defeated the Batavia Muckdogs, 5-4. McGill was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Hornets. Heath Fillmyer got credit for the win, improving to 3-2. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.1 innings. Josh Staumont notched his 35th save in 40 chances.
Lynchburg took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With one out, first baseman Justin Bellinger hit a solo home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Bellinger told the Lynchburg Daily News.
The Hornets, at 78-68, have now won 5 straight.
