Charlotte got a terrific performance from pitcher Tyler Glasnow, but it wasn't enough to beat the Pawtucket Red Sox. Pawtucket won the Chase Field contest, 6-5. Glasnow was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 5 innings allowing 3 runs. Danny Duffy was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts. Ken Giles was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 16 of 20 save opportunities.
Danry Vasquez, who is a three-time All-Star, aided the Pawtucket cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh. For the game, the left fielder went 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He scored 2 runs.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Vasquez told the Pawtucket Bulletin.
The Red Sox bumped their record to 41-26 with this latest triumph.
