Neptune Wins to Cut Charlotte Lead to 3-2
|
The Neptune Fighting Penguins have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Charlotte Royals, winning 6-3 at Chase Field today. Fighting Penguins right-hander Chris Beck was named player of the game after he threw 6 innings of 2-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Fighting Penguins to 3-2 in the best-of-7 Divisional Round.
Shoeless Joe Jackson helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a solo home run to give Neptune a 1-0 lead.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Jackson told the Neptune Today.
The next game is scheduled for Saturday in Anchorage. Slated to start are Jeurys Familia for Charlotte and Jose Fernandez for Neptune.
