Almost There: Charlotte On Cusp of DR Triumph After 3-0 Win
The Charlotte Royals got an exceptional performance from starter Masahiro Tanaka, who silenced the Neptune offense en route to a 3-0 shutout win in Game 4 of the Divisional Round today. The Fighting Penguins could never get a bead on the right-handed Tanaka, who threw 8 innings of shutout ball to earn player of the game honors. The Royals now hold a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 series.

Tanaka was in the zone all game. He frustrated Neptune hitters while giving the Royals 8 innings of quality work. Tanaka threw 119 pitches, allowing 5 hits and getting 6 punchouts.

"We played hard and won," said Tanaka. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'

Game 5 is scheduled for tomorrow in Charlotte. Slated to start are Chris Beck for the Neptune Fighting Penguins and Roger Clemens for the the Charlotte Royals.
