Fine Effort by Morton Not Enough in 5-4 Hornets Loss

Eric Morton did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Lynchburg Hornets from losing, 5-4, to the Pittsburgh Alleghenys at Hornets Nest. Morton belted 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Pittsburgh now has a 4-game win streak.
Gregory Polanco, who is a two-time Gold Glove Award winner, chipped in for Pittsburgh with a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"Enjoyed this one," Polanco told the Pittsburgh Today. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
