Late Rally by Batterologists Secures Win
|
The Berkeley Batterologists beat the Space City Moon Men, 11-5, at Moonbase Alpha. The Batterologists got a fine performance from right fielder Bradley Zimmer, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-4 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Jose Valdez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 9 of 11 save opportunities. Berkeley now sits at 35-29, while Space City falls to 33-33.
The Batterologists got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Chris Betts. For the game, Betts was 1 for 1 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the top of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Berkeley a 8-5 lead.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Zimmer said. "We did a good job of that today."
