New Vegas Boomers starter Shelby Miller was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Batavia Muckdogs, 4-3. Miller, the winner, moves to 7-2. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up no walks. Wally Higgins converted his 14th save in 17 tries.

The Boomers got a big at-bat from designated hitter Tim Walter. For the game, Walter was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the top of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 10th home run of the season gave New Vegas a 4-1 lead.

"If the personal accolades come, so be it," said Walter. "I just want to win ballgames."

The Boomers bumped their record to 33-23 with this latest triumph.
