The Columbus Legion faced a tough opponent in Pittsburgh pitcher Noah Syndergaard, but did just enough to pull out the victory at PNC Park by a final score of 4-3. Syndergaard went 6 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Sam Tuivailala converted his 10th save in 11 tries. Even with the win, the Legion have a dismal 19-37 record.
The Legion got a big at-bat from catcher Robert Mullen. For the game, Mullen was 2-5 with 2 singles. In the top of the ninth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 21st hit of the season gave Columbus a 4-3 lead.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Mullen told the Columbus Daily.
