Hornets Bang Out 10-7 Win Versus New Vegas
The Lynchburg Hornets beat the New Vegas Boomers, 10-7, at Hornets Nest. The win was largely due to the efforts of shortstop Ruddy Giron, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Sandy Koufax got credit for the win, improving to 4-4. He allowed 4 runs on 9 hits in 5 innings. The first-place Hornets improved to 31-20.

The Hornets got a big at-bat from left fielder Joe Miller. For the game, Miller went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Lynchburg a 4-2 lead.

"Enjoyed this one," Miller told the Lynchburg News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
