Moon Men Turn Back Batavia, 5-3
|
The Space City Moon Men picked up a win at Wrigley Field, knocking off the Batavia Muckdogs, 5-3. Starting pitcher Jake Thompson played a key role in the triumph. Thompson went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 0, and struck out 2. His record improves to 5-3. Chandler Day earned save number 2.
The Moon Men got a big at-bat from right fielder Josh Naylor. For the game, Naylor was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 34th hit of the season gave Space City a 5-3 lead.
"We take it day by day here," said Naylor, "and today was a good one for us."
The Moon Men bumped their record to 28-26 with this latest triumph.
