The Spellborough Wizards picked up a win at Mage Tower Field, knocking off the Neptune Fighting Penguins, 3-2. Starting pitcher Dylan Thompson, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Thompson picked up the win for Spellborough, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 4-5. Phil Green recorded his 13th save for Spellborough.
Miguel Sano chipped in for Spellborough with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"It was a solid team effort," said Thompson after the game.
The Wizards bumped their record to 28-22 with this latest triumph.
