Moon Men Lose to Red Sox, 7-3
|
Conditions were not ideal but Pawtucket and Space City were able to put their game in the books.
The Pawtucket Red Sox beat the Space City Moon Men, 7-3, at McCoy Stadium. Pawtucket third baseman Travis Blankenhorn earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Pawtucket starter Juan Hillman was credited with the win after throwing 93 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 5-2.
The Red Sox got a big at-bat from designated hitter Lou Gehrig. For the game, Gehrig was 1 for 4. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 30th hit of the season gave Pawtucket a 4-3 lead.
"I like the roll we're on," said Pawtucket manager David Larence.
The first-place Red Sox have a one-game lead in their division.
