Batterologists Scratch and Claw to 3-2 Win
|
The Berkeley Batterologists picked up a win at The Igloo, knocking off the Neptune Fighting Penguins, 3-2. Starting pitcher Yordano Ventura, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. David Hernandez picked up the save for Berkeley, his 7th of the year. With the win, the Batterologists improved to 15-21.
Had Wilmer Flores not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Flores hit a run-scoring triple. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Batterologists.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Neptune manager Tony Demchak. "But we decided not to take it."
