Fighting Penguins Solve Bull Artists, 5-3
|
Carlos Correa left his imprint on the 5-3 Neptune win against the Durham Bull Artists. Correa, who is a two-time All-Star, was 2 for 4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. A.J. Cole earned the win to go to 3-2. He allowed 3 earned runs on 9 hits, with 1 walk and 8 strikeouts. Xiao-xuan Liang recorded the save for Neptune, his 8th of the season.
Correa contributed a big hit, a bases-clearing double, for Neptune in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 3-1, Correa took a fastball from Tyler Glasnow and stroked the double to center. His 10th double of the season allowed the Fighting Penguins to leap in front, 4-3.
"The fans pay the tickets and help us do what we do, so we like to put on a show for them," Correa told the Neptune Today.
The Bull Artists fall to 11-14 and continue their uneven start to the 2022 season.
