The Batavia Muckdogs beat the Berkeley Batterologists, 5-4, at Wrigley Field. Batavia right fielder Alex Abbott earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Clayton Kershaw got the win, improving to 2-0. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Jacob Lindgren recorded his 3rd save for Batavia.
Miguel Andujar, who is rated as the 66th best prospect by BNN, contributed to the Batavia win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Andujar told reporters after the game.
The Batterologists fall to 10-13 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2022 season.
