Arenado Slugs Boomers to 14-5 Win
The New Vegas Boomers beat the Neptune Fighting Penguins, 14-5, at Moles Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of third baseman Nolan Arenado, who captured player of the game honors. He belted 2 home runs, while scoring 4 times and driving in 3. Shelby Miller got the win, improving to 1-2. He worked 6 innings, giving up 3 runs on 3 hits, while striking out 11 and walking 2. With their winning streak at 4, the Boomers have raced to a strong start this season.

Jace Peterson, who is a three-time Gold Glove Award winner, aided the New Vegas cause with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the second baseman was 1-2 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Arenado told reporters after the game.
