Moncada Leads Bull Artists to Win over Donkey Riders
|
The Durham Bull Artists relied on the hitting of catcher Yoan Moncada to stop the Canadien Donkey Riders, 7-5. For the game, Moncada went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Joe Ortiz converted his 8th save in 8 tries. Durham, at 66-74, occupies third place in the Ellering League Droz Division.
Moncada contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Durham in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 4-3, Moncada took a fastball from Jeferson Mejia and stroked the double to center. His 8th double of the season allowed the Bull Artists to leap in front, 5-4.
"We'll savor this win," Moncada told the Durham Observer, "then get ready for the next game."
