Royals Rally to Eke Out Win
|
Pawtucket got a terrific performance from pitcher Taijuan Walker, but it wasn't enough to beat the Charlotte Royals. Charlotte won the Chase Field contest, 2-1. Walker was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. Charlotte reliever Al Alburquerque picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Carter Capps absorbed the loss. Charlotte is now 81-60, 3 games up in the Ellering League Hawk Division.
The Royals got a big at-bat from catcher Alex Webb. For the game, Webb went 2-4 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the 12th, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave Charlotte a 2-1 lead.
Webb told a Charlotte Times reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
