Spellborough and Pawtucket duked it out at McCoy Stadium and the Wizards came out victorious.
The Spellborough Wizards downed the Pawtucket Red Sox, 9-7, at McCoy Stadium. The Wizards were led by Tyler Malone, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. The win was credited to Drew Smyly in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Juan Hillman took the loss. Phil Green finished the game for Spellborough and earned his 5th save.
Max Stassi, who is a four-time All-Star, chipped in for Spellborough with a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth. For the game, the catcher had 3 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"It feels good to get this one," Malone told the Spellborough Today.
Losses have been few and far between for the Red Sox so far this season. Their record drops to 9-4.
