Boomers Lose to Wizards, 8-3
|
Spellborough played host to New Vegas at the friendly confines of Mage Tower Field.
The Spellborough Wizards beat the New Vegas Boomers, 8-3, at Mage Tower Field. The win was largely due to the efforts of catcher Max Stassi, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Cobi Johnson, the winner, improved to 4-5. He held New Vegas to 2 earned runs on 4 hits over 6 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. Jason Bilous got the save, his 2nd in 5 chances.
Stassi had a big at-bat with runners on 2nd and 3rd in the bottom of the third inning, when he hit a 2-run double. The Wizards went on to win.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Stassi said.
Spellborough now has a 3-game win streak.
