The Lynchburg Hornets did just enough to sneak past the Deathland Weresloths, 4-3, at Hornets Nest. Lynchburg pitcher Sandy Koufax earned player of the game honors. Koufax, the winner, moves to 12-7. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up no walks. Josh Staumont notched his 31st save in 35 chances.

Eric Morton, who is tied for 9th in the EL in RBI with 88, aided the Lynchburg cause with a bases-clearing double in the bottom of the third. For the game, the designated hitter was 1-4 with a double, while adding 3 RBI.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Deathland skipper Mark Caterinacci, "and it cost us."

The second-place Hornets have won 7 straight games.
