The Pawtucket Red Sox beat the Pittsburgh Alleghenys, 4-3, at McCoy Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of left fielder Danry Vasquez, who captured player of the game honors. He went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The Red Sox bumped their record to 69-60 with this latest triumph.
Vasquez had a big at-bat with a runner on 3rd in the bottom of the first inning, when he hit a 2-run home run. The Red Sox went on to win.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Vasquez.
