Red Sox Bang Out 6-3 Win Versus Pittsburgh
|
Jacob Allred was instrumental in his team's 6-3 triumph over the Pittsburgh Alleghenys. The center fielder went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Pawtucket Red Sox. Ken Giles notched his 28th save in 32 chances. The Red Sox bumped their record to 68-60 with this latest triumph.
Hank Greenberg, who is tied for 4th in the EL in RBI with 89, helped out the Pawtucket cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a 2-run home run. For the game, the first baseman was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Jacob is still learning," said Red Sox manager David Larence. "The sky's the limit for him."
